About Nancy

Nancy Skinner – Biography   Nancy Skinner was a long time Democratic radio host, on WLS in Chicago before going nationally syndicated.  She was also a commentator and guest host on cable news shows, starting in 2000, including Fox News (O’Reilly, Hannity & Colmes, Neil Cavuto), MSNBC (as a regular guest-host for Bill Press on Buchanan and Press and Ron Kuby on Curtis & Kuby) as well as CNN shows (Campbell Brown, Anderson Cooper, Talk Back Live).  

Skinner then herself jumped into the political ring – her first race was in the 2004 Democratic primary against Senator Barack Obama, (Yes, Skinner is big supporter of Obama) and once again for Congress in 2006, where she lost by a few points in 2006.  Skinner also helped prep Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm to play Sarah Palin in the mock debates with Senator Joe Biden.   Nancy Skinner can now begin her bio with the fact that she lost to the President of the United States, President-Elect Barack Obama.  She ran against him in the Illinois U.S. Senate Democratic primary in 2004, and became one of his biggest fans as a result.  During the current election, Nancy was on his surrogate team, reaching out to voters via the media, to elect him President.  

Nancy Skinner’s journey into politics actually began with her passion for dealing with global warming and the need to rapidly adopt alternative energy.  As a finance major from the University of Michigan, she decided that getting business into the business of addressing global warming was the best approach.  After years in the trenches, and a presidential award for her work on helping rebuild flooded Midwestern communities as models of environmentally sustainability, Nancy knew that political action could not progress without public opinion demanding it.   She landed a radio show on WLS in Chicago in 1997, one of the first progressive hosts in the country and was a frequent contributor to political shows on CNN, MSNBC and the Fox News Channel.   

After her loss to Obama, Nancy returned to her home town of Royal Oak, Michigan and was the morning host on 1310 AM Detroit’s Progressive Talk for a year before challenging a 14-year incumbent, Republican Joe Knollenberg, for congress in 2006.  She surprised many with a near upset, losing only 48 to 52%.      

Nancy is back where she started, on the radio.  Nancy is a little different than a lot of talk radio hosts, she routinely has guests and callers with different opinions and treats them with respect and OK, a little humor too.    This time, the stakes are higher, the show is bigger, and Nancy Skinner “WANTS PRESIDENT OBAMA TO SUCCEED”!
